SMALL BIZ SPOTLIGHT: KONBIT COLLECTIVE

Today’s small biz spotlight is on the wonderful local organization, Konbit Collective. Konbit Collective is the social enterprise division of Konbit Haiti, a non-profit working in rural Haiti to help communities thrive through the use of local leaders, appropriate technologies, and indigenous wisdom.

Konbit, which is pronounced “cone - beet”, is a very important part of Haitian culture.

According to the founders of Konbit Collective:

“It is a deeply ingrained word which explores the value of people coming together. When someone is in need in Haiti, people come alongside of one another and work until the job is done. We have seen it with our own eyes and are inspired by this corporate will to do good. The reason for Konbit Collective is to create more of that “konbit” goodness to spread around. We want people and groups working in all kinds of areas to feel inspired to join our cause to do good together.”

Profits from items sold through Konbit Collective go directly back to the artisans who made them, as well as into programs run by Konbit Haiti, which include water, sanitation, hygiene, kids camps, leadership trainings and seminars, medical assistance, and so much more.

I had the honor of attending Konbit Collective’s launch party back in October of 2019, and I have fallen more and more in love with their business and mission ever since. I’ll be sharing a few of my current favorite items, but you’ll definitely want to keep checking back with them, as they are constantly adding new awesomeness to their shop.

This adjustable beaded Trinity Bracelet is one of the first things I purchased (at the launch party, actually!) and I wear it all the time! I have the turquoise version, which is currently sold out, but I love this purple colorway as well.

The Cheri Necklace is so classic, and will go with literally everything you own. It’s adjustable (up to 19”), and one of my everyday favorites for sure. (gifted from Konbit Collective)

I gifted a pair of these earrings to my cousin for Christmas, and they’re light as a feather! Pun totally intended. They come in lots of different colors, and make a beautiful statement!

Speaking of statements.. I’ve got my eye on the new Lejan Necklace (just in case anyone is shopping for my birthday - it’s in September. 😉) which features a real Haitian coin cast into brass. Perfect for carrying around a little piece of the country you’re supporting with your purchase!

I love the meaning behind the Little by Little tee - it comes from Proverbs 13:11, which says “Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it”. Another translation that I love says “Dishonest wealth will dwindle, but what is earned through hard work will be multiplied”.

I recently ordered one of these 5-in-1 covers to gift to a new mom friend, and I was in LOVE with how soft it was! It’s the perfect lightweight material for the summer, and proceeds from the Petite Palm line of Konbit Collective go toward medical assistance specifically for Haitian mothers.

My dad is OBSESSED with Konbit Collective’s coffee. His favorite is Kafe Grann, which is Sugar Cane Roasted Extra Dark. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that it is one of the most heavenly smells in the world!

Konbit Collective has a great selection of market totes. I especially love this yellow and white striped one for summer beach days. They’re all super durable, sturdy, and lightweight.

Konbit Collective and Konbit Haiti are doing amazing work, and I am so incredibly proud of them. I hope you’ll find some goodies for yourself to help support an amazing cause.
