If you’re looking for unique birthday gifts, look no further! Etsy has pages and pages of awesomeness to browse through! Rubies are the official birthstone of July, and the gorgeous red stones represent love, health, and wisdom.

NorthernGirlStore is full of vintage treasures, like this ruby red floral blouse. So easy breezy for all of July’s hot afternoons!

I absolutely love the look of raw gemstones, and these insanely pretty ruby rings from DANIBARBEshop would be a super thoughtful gift for a July baby.

Here’s a way to bring a ruby into your home decor - how cool are these gem-shaped planters from GreenDesk? They’re 3D printed, and you can choose from lots of different colors!

There’s no place like home! There’s no place like home! I just discovered princesspumps’ incredible sequined creations and I’m pretty sure I need like 10 pairs. And how cute would these bright red keds be for a sassy July bride?

If your giftee has a major case of wanderlust, she’ll absolutely love this incredibly chic passport cover from ArtPointRu - guaranteed to turn heads in the airport. Bonus: it can be personalized with the name of your choice!

This hefty 1950’s brooch from VintageLovelyStore is the perfect one of a kind find. Red and gold are just a match made in heaven, don’t you think?

This throw from BlisscraftandBrazen is definitely a bit of a splurge, but just look at how stunning it is! Completely handmade using traditional weaving techniques and locally sourced materials, this will be an heirloom piece the whole family (and future generations!) will love.

I love the idea of flowers that never wilt, so it’s a good thing these ceramic blooms from JGceramicGifts will last for a lifetime!

I seem to be in a bit of a minimalist phase right now, so this fine art print from joreyhurley is giving me all the right vibes!

These red gemstone patches from halfstitchembroidery are a perfect way to represent July’s birthstone! Stick one on your jeans, your bag, or a jacket for a fun punch of color!

Every July birthday princess needs a flower crown, and this one from ThinkPinkBows has just the right amount of ruby red.

The Fourth of July holiday is great for relaxing, outdoor activities, fireworks, hot dogs, fun with friends and family.. and most importantly.. SALES!

Before I get into some of the awesome sales some of my favorite Etsy shops are having, I just wanted to let y’all know that I’m having a quick weekend sale in both of my own shops (letterhappy + happytatts) on everything that’s red, white, and blue. No codes needed, just look for the green prices on applicable items or select the sale category to see them all in one place! This includes things like..

this nautical greeting card

these brand new navy floral tattoos

and these summery watermelon slice tattoos!

I’ve had my eye on these gorgeous ceramic planters from JasmineSupply for a while now. I think I’ve finally reached the stage of adulthood where I don’t automatically kill everything I own, so if I’m going to end up as a certified plant lady, I definitely need some fun display pots!

This gorgeous opal ring from Borcik looks like it’s wearing a crown and I am HERE FOR IT.

I actually own a pair of these mermaid leggings from PurushaPeople, so I can attest to their fabulousness. And you can bet with all of the hype surrounding the upcoming live-action The Little Mermaid movie, mermaids will be right back in the trend spotlight (as they should be, duh)!

This circular shelf unit from HKNDesign is such a statement piece for your wall! Why bother with boring straight shelves when you can have something like this?

How precious are these little earbud cord holders from jewelryleather? They come in tons of different colors and they’ll keep you organized if you haven’t quite made the switch to AirPods yet. (Guilty!)

I love the sleek, natural look of this watch from tmbrwood. Its super minimalist design, including rose gold detailing and a genuine leather strap will go with absolutely anything.

This doormat from foxandcloverboutique just gets me. You can find tons of snarky goodies in this shop, or get a normal one with your name on it.. if you’re into that, I guess.

What kinds of sales are you shopping this holiday weekend? Share the love in the comments below!

So, what exactly is Rocksbox?

Rocksbox is a subscription box service that allows you to “rent” designer jewelry, wear it to your heart’s content, buy it at a discounted price if you love it, or return it and receive brand new pieces to try. Plus, you can get your first month absolutely FREE! Keep reading for a full review of the service and my referral link / code.

How much does it cost?

Rocksbox is $21 per month. However, unlike other subscription boxes that only send one box per month, Rocksbox will send as many boxes as you’d like, as long as the previous one is returned (or purchased) first! Additionally, that $21 can be used as a credit toward any piece from your set that you’d like to keep, so it never goes to waste if you switch out boxes at least once a month.

Another really incredible thing about Rocksbox is that you will always stay subscribed at the rate you started, but your monthly credit will go up with the price increase! I’ve been a member for several years now, so I still pay my original monthly rate of $19, but I now have a $21 monthly credit.

You also have the option to put your account on hold. This will lock in your current subscription rate instead of cancelling and re-subscribing later when the price may have gone up. During your hold, you will not be billed, and you will also keep your access to the Rocksbox shop where you can purchase items without having them sent to you in a box first.

You can try it out and get your first month absolutely FREE by using my referral link or entering the code CHRISTENBFF2 when you sign up.

How does it work?

You’ll start off by completing a Style Profile, which asks questions like:

• What metal do you wear (gold, silver, or both)?

• What style of necklace do you like (statement, delicate, choker, etc.)? Same with earrings, bracelets, and rings.

Side note: you also have the option to choose which kinds of pieces you DON’T wear, which is awesome. My ears aren’t pierced, so I wouldn’t want to get some earrings in my box and not be able to wear them!

• What trends are you open to trying? These are always changing, so be sure to re-visit your style preferences regularly.

• Anything else you’d like your stylist to know. This can be additional styles you like/don’t like, specific designers you love, upcoming events you’d like pieces for, metal allergies, etc.

Next, you can add specific pieces to your wishlist.

The availability and selections are always changing, so you’ll want to visit your wishlist often as well. You can browse the entire selection at once, or you can narrow your search by designer, trend, category, metal, color, material, and price.

Preview your set, or let it be a surprise!

One (new-ish) feature I really love is the option to preview and swap out pieces in your upcoming set. Keep an eye on your inbox because you’ll only have 24 hours to make your decision. Or if you’re NOT a control freak like me, you can let it be a surprise!

It will probably come as a surprise to absolutely no one that I ALWAYS preview my set. This is a look at my most recent one. You can see which pieces have been granted from your Wishlist and which pieces your stylist recommends for you.

If you choose to swap something out, you can click on each individual piece and they’ll give you a few similar options to choose from. You can also click “start swap” and you’ll be able to see all of the pieces available for you to select.

For this particular box, I actually decided to swap out all 3 pieces. I loved the ones my stylist chose, but I had my eye on a few others from my wishlist, so here are my final choices!

Screen Shot 2019-06-29 at 9.38.42 PM.png

Enjoy your set!

You can wear your pieces for as long as you’d like! There’s absolutely no limit. Just remember that you WILL get charged your subscription price every month, whether you get a new set or not. However, on the other hand, if you like to swap them out super frequently, you’ll still only pay one subscription price per month.

Purchase the pieces you love and send back the rest.

You’ll have the option to purchase any piece in your set for a discounted rate. As you can see from a previous set of mine below, the sugar skull necklace at retail costs $55, but I can purchase it through my Rocksbox set for $46. I purchased that piece and the lightning bolt necklace and decided to return the violet signet ring. Since I also had the $21 monthly credit, what would have originally been a $110 purchase was only $71!

Rocksbox also offers an additional discount if you decide to purchase all 3 pieces from your set. It’s typically around $10 off.

You can also rate each piece and leave a comment. This will help your stylist narrow down your style even further and pick out pieces for future sets.

Screen Shot 2019-06-29 at 10.23.59 PM.png

Each box comes with a reusable bubble mailer and a prepaid label so it’s super easy to send back your box. Rocksbox will let you know when they’ve received it and your stylist will get started on your new one immediately!

Remember, you can try it out and get your first month absolutely FREE by using my referral link or entering the code CHRISTENBFF2 when you sign up.

(Full disclosure: I may receive a small commission from Rocksbox if you do! However, this post is NOT sponsored. I have been a paying member since 2014. I absolutely love this service and think you will, too!)

It’s no secret that Etsy is full of incredibly talented artists, makers, and curators, and on this last week of Pride Month, I’ve assembled some of my favorite pride finds and items from LGBTQ+ sellers. Enjoy!

Love is love is love is love! I adore this super happy card from SayItOutProud!

Lex and Voula are the self-proclaimed “artists and troublemakers” behind WildFancyDesign. They have some awesome LGBTQ+ jewelry and accessories available, and I also love their gorgeous Rise Up moon enamel pin.

I do have to admit that there was a slightly terrifying audible squeal when I came across the work of lollipopworkshop. These custom wedding cake toppers are incredibly precious, totally customizable, a super sweet keepsake to display after the reception, and you can even include your furry friends!

BiancaDesignsCo is filled with the cuuutest gifts, including pins, hats, and stickers. I especially love this The Future Is Inclusive Tote. Bianca, the queer artist behind the shop, says “Representation, inclusivity and support are important to me in design and within our communities. Each month I give 50% of proceeds from "Love Knows No Gender" to a LGBTQ+ foundation”.

BuffaloLucy’s metal work is absolutely stunning, and made with “recycled metals and materials whenever possible”. I especially love this sweet bee necklace. Bonus: for the month of June 10% of profits will be going to the Transgender Law Center.

This rainbow heart doormat from NickelDesignsShop is so fun, and will provide a bright and loving welcome into your home.

Last, but not least.. don’t forget to let your pup show some pride, too, with this rainbow glitter bowtie by PupTartHandmade. (Bonus: 15% of each sale goes to the London Friend charity who are helping create a friendly and equal environment for all LGBTQ+ people.)
