FINDING THE HAPPY: VOL. 1

Something I’m committed to every single day is finding the happy. It doesn’t have to be huge, or mindblowing, or last the entire day. I’m talking about moments. Moments like laughing at a funny meme, the feeling you get from putting on your favorite sweatpants, a relaxing afternoon iced coffee break, a newly redecorated corner of your home. We can find the happy in so many different things, and let’s be honest, happiness is always best when shared with others.. so I’m sharing some of my happy with you!

And so it begins.. Volume 1 of Finding the Happy!

PINK DRINK DUPE

As one of my friends commented on the IGTV video I posted last week, it really was “only a matter of time” before I figured out how to make my own Pink Drink. The complete instructions are in this blog post, and if you’re more of a visual person, you can find the video right here as well. Isn’t she prettyyy?

SOPHIE WALKS

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that for a while now, pretty much every day, I post a video of Sophie (my dog) walking along with a song that has some variation of the word “walk” somewhere in the lyrics. It started out as a fun little daily thing, but as of writing this, I am 47 songs deep and it has become a very serious obsession. Like, I have a page in my notes app with a very long list of songs and I even made a Spotify playlist that gets updated weekly with all the new songs we’ve added. Crazy dog lady? Yep. I gladly accept the title.

You can see all of the videos saved in the “sophie walks” highlight on Instagram.

Since daily walks are keeping us sane during quarantine, I snagged a new pair of sneakers a couple of weeks ago, and they make me SO happy! They’re just the perfect clean white sneaker with a bright pop of color, which I absolutely love! They have the pink swoosh on the inner side (as shown in this super awkward photo of my legs) and the black swoosh on the outer side (as shown in the links below).

In my experience, Nikes run a bit small, so size up! I’m typically between a 7.5 and 8 in shoes, and the 8.5 fits me perfectly. I linked them in 2 different spots for you, since I know some sizes are sold out at each retailer. Also.. they’re on sale right now (normally $90!), so go grab a pair.. quick!

FRED AND GEORGE

Did I name my fiddle leaf fig trees after the Weasley twins? Okay, maybe. In my attempt to add crazy plant lady to my resumé, I’ve killed more plants than I care to admit. By some insane miracle, I’ve kept these guys alive.. but to be totally honest, they haven’t exactly been thriving.

I’ve had Fred for a few years now, and he has NEVER put on any new growth. Around Christmas, one entire side of him dropped all its leaves and I was afraid he was doomed. But I repotted him, added some fertilizer, talked to him real nice, put him in a spot that gets more light, and he’s showing some new baby leaves for the first time ever! Cross your fingers that these are the first of many more!

I got George several months ago, and as soon as I got him home, he decided to act out by promptly dropping all but TWO of his leaves, leaving a single sad stalk. I almost gave up on him, but he has put on EIGHT new leaves in the past few weeks, and I’m so happy he seems to be coming back to life!
